I HIGHLY recommend that people adopt or buy siblings or a bonded pair when they decide on dogs. Remember that dogs are "pack" animals. These two play with each others and with the other dogs. They'll grow to about 15 pounds. The white one - the male - also loves to chase certain cats and wrestle with them. There are certain cats that really enjoy tussling with them, and they seem to hook up with each other and have fun together.
The Great Pyrenees protects the livestock from night time predators. She will bite strangers if she thinks her livestock are being threatened.
We learn a lot by watching "Dr. Pol" on National Geographic, or watching "Dr. Jeff" on Animal Planet. We also support D.E.W. Haven in Maine and enjoyed watching "The Turtle Man" from Kentucky. The last two are no longer on Animal Planet and we hope they will return.
11/4/2017: Two scary episodes with the white puppy. First, he picked up a piece of broken glass as soon as it hit the floor and I chased him around the house. He dropped it on the bed and I got it and threw it away with no injuries to him. Then he later was walking around with a baggie over his nose and mouth...almost proud of himself for finding it. Another heart-stopping moment when I grabbed it off his face and put it into a trash can that he cannot access.
The black puppy, a little girl, is quite food aggressive. It's hers....no matter what it is...it's hers.
The white puppy, a male, looks a lot like an offspring of the Great Pyrenees, though he is not.
The black and white puppies are Havapoo puppies, half Havanese and half Poodle. They will get to be about 15 pounds as adults and are hypo-allergenic.
10/8/2017: Their favorite activity is romping around in the front (fenced) yard, finding mud. "Mud" dog smiles ear to ear when he runs into the house, his paws covered almost to his stomach in mud. Fortunately, he and his sister don't mind getting baths.
9/2/2017: When our Alpha dog passed away in 2014, one of our cats stopped eating. Our Alpha dog used to chew on the cat's ears and, when he died, the cat went into a depression and stopped eating. I decided to get a dog who looked like our Alpha dog in order to save the cat. I found a dog on www.Petfinder.com in Ohio and adopted her and flew up to Ohio to bring her back. She was just a few months old and the rescue told me some boys put her in a crate and dropped her in a lake to drown her, but a girl saw the whole thing and jumped into the water and saved her, and gave her to a friend who had an animal rescue, who posted her picture on the internet pet adoption site, and I found her and adopted her. Of all the cats in the house, when this puppy came into the plethora of cats, she went straight to the male tabby and started chewing on his ears! The cat was perplexed...but he started eating again! The two of them are still close, three years later!
