One of my female Muscovy ducks is spending time in my glass-enclosed shower (so that cats cannot reach her) and she's bathing in the bathtub. Apparently she has a calcium deficiency and so, in the process of supplementing her diet with calcium "rocks," and dried mealworms, she's hanging out in the bathroom. She LOVES playing in the bathtub.
Turk Turk is a real ladies man. He has a gray/brown female friend and a Bourbon Red turkey female friend to hang around with.
For the winter, the Catio becomes "winterized." We put up a very heavy tarp around most of it to block the snow, wind and rain. The cats can still come and go into the Catio, day or night, 365 days/year.
Mike H., in the La Plata area, can provide you with firewood or cut down your trees: (724) 462-9779.
RECIPE for starting your wood-burning fireplace: Take a cardboard egg carton and in the bottom of each, put lint from your dryer. Take tea lights out of their metal container and take the wicks out. Then put a tea light on top of each lint container. Put in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 300 degrees until the tea light is mostly melted over the lint.
Each of the egg holders is a separate lighter you can use to start a fire in your wood-burning fireplace, wood-burning stove or wood-burning fireplace insert. This is from my neighbor who cuts down trees and sells firewood.
These female Cayuga ducks are the new companions for my male Muscovy ducks. The Cayuga females will lay black or gray eggs, but I have yet to see any.
This is "Mr. and Mrs. Peacock." I purchased him in 2015 at an Amish auction. They announced that his mate had died, so he was alone. I purchased him anyway, and then found a peafowl breeder and purchased "Mrs. Peacock #2" for him. Last summer, "Mrs. Peacock #2" disappeared from the property so I went back to the Amish Auction and found "Mrs. Peacock #3." She met him on August 13, 2016 - and it's been "love at first sight" ever since.
